Paste a link. It is edited here in your browser and never sent or opened.

What gets removed

In the default mode the cleaner removes utm_source only when its value is an AI assistant value: a documented value such as chatgpt.com, an assistant hostname from the referrer list, or a plain assistant name such as perplexity. Every other parameter, and every other utm parameter, stays.

In the second mode it removes every parameter that starts with utm_. Parameters that stay keep their original order and encoding, and the part after # is untouched.

Before you strip tags from your own pages

Cleaning a link before you share it is harmless. Cleaning the address on your own site is different: if the tag is removed before your analytics script reads it, you lose the attribution. If you want a clean address in the browser bar, let analytics read the page first and replace the address afterwards. Background and sources: utm_source=chatgpt.com explained.

Follow-up questions

Does removing the tag change what the page shows?

No. The parameters only matter to analytics. A page that works without them looks the same with or without.

Why not use a browser extension?

You can. This tool shows exactly what it removed and keeps everything else unchanged, and it needs no installation.
